The app offers users to continue with their eBay activities including deal search, bidding for a deal etc. via their BlackBerry smartphone running over BlackBerry OS 4.5 of higher, and has BlackBerry service plan with internet access along with access to wireless network.

RIM, the BlackBerry smartphone maker has released the eBay app for its smartphones in six more countries including Australia. The application which is currently available for at BlackBerry application world, has also been released in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK..

Steve Yankovich, vice president of platform business solutions and mobile at eBay Inc. said, “We are thrilled to be extending eBay’s mobile presence to millions of BlackBerry smartphone users around the globe”. “When developing any mobile application, we take into account the unique features and advantages of the device to better meet our customers’ needs. With BlackBerry’s Push Service and multi-tasking technology, eBay buyers and sellers are able to stay up-to-date on great deals and sales.”

With the app, BlackBerry smartphone users would be able to continue with their ebay activities including deal search; making a bid for a deal etc. from nearly every part of the world. Using the BlackBerry Push Service, the app notifies users wirelessly about the status of eBay listing in real-time, and thus gets alerts about their winning an item or losing the bid. Moreover, they will also alerts for eBay happenings including the soon to end alert of a listing from their watch list.

Users will get all the notificatications directly in their BlackBerry Email inbox, and with BlackBerry OS supporting multitasking they will also be able to click the email notifications to automatically launch or switch to the eBay application.

Moving on, the app supports only BlackBerry smartphones which have loaded BlackBerry OS version 4.5 or higher, and also requires a BlackBerry service plan having Internet access. Other than that, to access the app, there is also required access to a wireless network. It is also important to note that Daily Deals get shown only with Australia, Canada, Germany, UK and US versions of the application, and making a purchase via PayPal is currently available only in Australia, UK and US.
