Well, there were earlier surfaced rumors about BlackBerry’s tablet to be named as “Blackpad”. And, now with purchase of BlackPad.com domain name by RIM, it looks that the same rumors could turn up real compared to what earlier was believed for the name BlackPad being just a code name. It is expected that RIM’s tablet will be launched at the end of this year. Meanwhile, as per the registration records, it has been confirmed that domain name BlackPad.com has been in existence for years and just days back, it was purchased by RIM. Apparently, individuals has been squatting the name BlackPad itself since January 2007.
It is also being cautioned that RIM’s purchase of domain name BlackPad.com does not mean that it will definitely turn up for the RIM’s tablet to be named as BlackPad, as earlier similar things were also done by Apple before the release of iPad. Before iPad launch, numbers of domain names referring a tablet or slate device were purchased by Apple.
