the Intel powered netbook runs over Windows 7

Well, Dell’s Inspiron Mini 1018 netbook has been launched in Europe on Aug 19^th.  The netbook which runs over Windows 7 [32-bit Genuine Starter edition] has Intel Atom N455 Single Core 1.66 GHz processor, 1 GB of DDR3 memory, Intel NM10 Express chipset, 802.11b/g/n connectivity etc. There are also available options of Bluetooth 3.0 plus WiFI b/g/n combo card, and six cell battery. Showcasing 10.1 inch WSVGA TrueLife display offering resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels, the netbook is also equipped with 0.3 MP webcam, speakers, Skype app and integrated microphones.

In Europe, Dell has launched the netbook in glossy black color [Obsidian Black shade] at starting price of $430 approx.

Launched the ultraportable notebook at price tag of $449

There has been released an ultraportable notebook named Inspiron M101z by Dell. Powered by AMD Athelon II Neo CPU, the notebook has integrated ATI Radeon GPU, 1.3 MP webcam, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, HDMI output, VGA output, 7-in-1 card reader, Ethernet, 4 GB of DDR3 memory, up to 320 GB hard drive, 11.6” display, and full size chiclet keyboard etc. Loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium edition, the laptop will be available at $449 pricing. Fitted in battery of the device can deliver power back up of up to 5-6 hours. There are also available options of 9-cell battery, DVD/RW drive and portable USB speaker options with the device with it being available in multiples of color options including Peacock Blue, Tomato Red with Jax pattern, and Promise Pink with DigiPais pattern.

Dell’s spokesman said on late Tuesday that company’s 5-inch Dell Streak tablet will not see sales of it getting started until the end of July. The announcement came after an online message which was mistakenly posted over its website informing customers to return on the site on Wednesday to purchase the device. In a telephonic interview, Matt Parretta said, “It was a mistake, and we took that information down this morning.” “I can say definitely that the Dell Streak won’t go on sale in July.” He however noted that earlier in May, Dell had said that the device will not go on sale sometime this summer.

The wireless carrier is also planning to launch Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook in selected HSPA+ markets though it looks the notebooks would not have built in 3G connectivity making users it mandatory to use webConnect Rocket for getting their mobile data fixed.

Well, in UK the Dell’s latest tablet PC Streak aka Mini 5 can now be purchased ‘unlocked’ by shelling out £449, reports Engadget. The Tablet PC which is unique for being compatible with making calls too, has 5” WVGA multi-touch display screen, 5MP built in front-facing camera with dual LED flash, a webcam, Google Android UI, Wi-Fi, and 1 GHz snapdragon processor., Facebook and Twitter integration, 2GB internal memory and microSD card support. And, as far as Streak’s US release is concerned, there have come reports about the tablet PC suggesting letter to be sold ‘unlocked’ at $500 by Dell in the country. Earlier, Dell has confirmed launching Dell Streak in US over AT&T network.

There have come reports about Dell being in talks with Google over using latter’s Chrome operating system in its notebooks. Dell’s president for Greater China and South Asia Amit Midha told Reuters, “We have to have a point of view on the industry and technology direction two years, three years down the road, so we continuously work with Google on this. There are going to be unique innovations coming up in the marketplace in two, three years, with a new form of computing, we want to be on that forefront … So with Chrome or Android or anything like that we want to be one of the leaders.”

Meanwhile, Google has said that it expects to release the Chrome OS in “late fall” with the new OS will primarily be targeting Microsoft Windows.

The new Inspiron range also includes pink and red models

Dell today will introduce its new Inspiron R series of laptops offering buyers a range of bright color choices. The laptops which have updated Intel mobile processors, are avaiable in Black, Blue, Red and Pink compared to quite often seen standard silver and white options. The latest released R series notebooks are available 14-inch, 15-inc and 17-inches options, and offer buyers two processor options Intel Core i3 and i5.

The laptops offer options of ATI Radeon discrete graphics cards and Intel Wireless Display technology. With Intel Wireless Display technology, users will be able to wirelessly stream video from notebook to an HDTV.

As per the pricing, there have come reports about Dell to start selling the laptops on its website at initial pricing of $449. Further, the laptops could also be purchased at Fry’s Electronics which will start selling new Dell series notebooks from June 25th onwards.

Though, not sure about HDMI docks

There have been released cables, plugs, adapters and cases for recently released Dell Streak aka Mini 5 tablet PC. Though, there is not any surety of whether HDMI dock is also included in the package or not, as Dell’s ‘Home AV doc kit’ for Streak is not mentioned with any HDMI dock.

The ‘Home AV doc kit’ which is priced at £55 [$80] consists Home AV dock, USB or mini USB sync cable, USB to DC charge cable, Power supply unit and Regional plug set. The launched accessories for Dell Streak also have featured Extra Battery Kit [£39], fold out kick-stand Wallet Case [£24], Car dock kit [priced at £55, it consists Car dock, Dash Mounting Plate, Cigaretter Lighter Adapter, and USB to 30pin Sync/charge cable].

Further, ‘International Travel Kit’ which is priced at [£24] features power supply unit, regional plug set, and a USB to 30pin Sync/charge cable.

And, to protect your Streak from physical bruises, there is also available a “Form Fit case” featuring robust cover with screen protection. Matching the sleek design of Streak, hinged bottoms of the case enables seamless syncing and charging using Home Dock accessories.

Vodafe and Virgin Media have launched Samsung Wave smartphone, and are offering the handset free with contract. With Vodafone, buyers can get Samsung Wave with two years contract at £25 for each month offering 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500 MB data.

At the same cost [2 years contract at £25 for each month], Virgin is offering the handset free with 600 minutes, unlimited text and “unlimited web access” [at 30p a day, and users will pay on the days, he access the internet from the handset]. Moreover, with the plan, there also comes free phone insurance for 3 months [after that will cost £5.99 a month].

Coming on to Dell Streak [16 GB], the recently released table PC is available just for free with two years contract at £35 per month with O2. The plan offers unlimited data, texts, and ten hours of voice calls. And, if the user wants to use the tablet only to access data then he can go for the cheaper option of £25 per month on a two year contract which basically is a mobile broadband package devoid of any voice minutes or texts.

And, if buyers of Dell Streak don’t want to go for a contract deal, then they can get the device at £399 along with PAYG text & web plan.

O2 has scheduled to launch Dell Streak tomorrow, in UK. The pricing of tariffs, buyers of Streak will have the option of, is mentioned below.

With two years contract at £35 per month, the device comes free, and will offer user unlimited data, texts, and ten hours of voice calls [Dell Streak also lets users to make a call from; truly a device which bridges the gap in between a smartphone and tablet pc].

But, to those, who want to buy Dell Streak aka Mini 5, just to enjoy it as a cutting edge tablet PC, with no plans of using it as phone, can go for the cheaper plan of £25 per month on a two year contract. Basically, the plan is a mobile broadband package without any voice minutes or texts.

Coming on to the option of buying the device “without” any contract, then for this, buyers will have to shell out a hefty £429 which surely does not seem a right option when there are already available cheaper contract options offering buyer not only the device just for free, but also make it alive with the data bytes [plan options].

However, it remains to be seen how Streak performs against the recently launched iPad which has made the whole world go mad over it.

The plus point for Streak against iPad is the presence of 5 inch display which makes the movie viewing experience a real treat for users, and at the same time, it is also not that large as a full sized tablet PC which iPad is.
