Well, there has been released a firmware update for its NEX-3 and NEX-5 interchangeable cameras by Sony which then makes these compatible to shoot 3D panoramas. Though, there has not come clear info about how with the update, the cameras captures 3D; however it has been revealed that for user to press the shutter button along with sweeping the camera from one side to other to active the 3D mode in the cameras.
According to Sony, having been loaded with the update, NEX-3 and NEX-5 capture 3D at higher frame rate which then create 3D panoramic photos for users to watch them via any 3D TV including Bravia models, the company recommends to watch 3D panorama shots with. Other benefits the update provide include enhancement to normal 2D sweep panorama shooting; decreased battery drain with switched off camera; and quicker startup in dimly lit places with all making the update important even for those who though are not great fans of 3D, would however be interested in getting capabilities of their camera enhanced.
