by Kusum Pugalia on February 14, 2010

In January Nokia said that it would offer its Ovi Maps with Navigation free of charge and they will be embedded on all GPS smartphones. The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition is considered to be one of such phones.

The device is available in bezel color, but it has the same physical attributes and offers the following measures: 37 inches tall by 2.03 inches wide by 0.61 inch thick. The weight of the Nokia 5800 is 3.84 ounces.

The handset is equipped with a 3.2-inch resistive touch screen and offers a resolution of 640×360 pixels. Furthermore it backs up 16 million colors. The touch screen is responsive. But there are complaints concerning the user interface.

It features a Micro-USB port, a power button, power connector, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also packs a USB cable, a car charger, a cradle and vehicle mount, a wired stereo headset, an 8GB microSD card, a wrist strap, an audio adapter, reference material and also a software CD.

As it was mentioned above this model is available with Ovi Maps for free. Together with Maps, users get several advantages. It is possible to view maps even there is no data connection. One can use Maps if a user is offline.

When talking about speakerphone quality, it is satisfactory. The 5800 backs up the 850/1,900MHz 3G bands due to which one can get 5G HSDPA speeds by means of AT&T. It has an integrated 3.2-megapixel camera that is equipped with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, a dual LED flash, as for picture quality, it is vibrant and sharp.

The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition comes with a 1,320mAh lithium ion battery that offers 8.8 hours of talk time.
